Lee Roy Selmon's story combines football scholarship for his family and service to his community. His first family is that he's the youngest out of nine kids raised in Eufala through Lucious Selmon. Two, football. He is one of the three brothers that played for Oklahoma. Three brothers were All-America. Lucious Jr. Dewey & Lee Roy started for one season in 1973. Lee Roy received the Outland and Lombardi Awards for being the best lineman of the USA. In the three years that Roy was a starter, Oklahoma won two National Championships. The National Football Foundation named him as a Scholar-Athlete three times time in the year 1975. Selmon graduated with a degree from the University of California, Berkeley. Lee Roy's fourth service included ten hours per week in volunteer work during the college. After graduation, he moved to Tampa and played nine years with Tampa's Buccaneers. He was an All-Pro for three occasions. After that, he began his career. He began his career in 1988. was working as an Account Relation Manager in the First Florida Bank in Tampa. He worked for the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute and the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982 the Junior Chamber of Commerce recognized him as one of 10 of America's most outstanding young men. Lee Roy, a 6-2-inch larger and weighing the hefty 256 pounds at college when he was an athlete, was captain of his team during the season of 1975. In 1993, he joined the university of south Fla's athletic department as its associate director. In 1988, he was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. He also made an appearance in the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame and the Pro Football Hall of Fame. In 1989 the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation awarded its Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Jr. Henry Bellmon was the Oklahoma Governor that presented the award.
