Dolly Parton escaped the struggles that shaped her life at an early age through her imaginative and creative imagination. The songs she wrote were composed before she was able to write or read. After getting her first guitar at age 8, she started performing at radio stations in Knoxville in Tennessee. The first album she recorded was during the same year Gold Band Records, a small label that was an independent. While still in highschool She made her mark local, but longed for an even bigger stage. In 1964, the day following her graduation from high-school, she relocated to Nashville. Dumb Blonde, Something Fishy and Dumb Blonde both charted on Monument Records in 1967. Porter Wagoner, a syndicated television show host in the late '60s, was looking for a girl to sing on his show. Parton joined RCA Records and then joined the Grand Ole Opry. She took on the role in 1967. However she left Wagoner's show in 1974, as her own songs like Joshua Coat of Many Colors and Jolene were charting collaborations with them. Parton, after the split of their partnership with Wagoner, wrote"I Will Never Love You and had it reach the top spot at No. First time, in 1974.
